Lakeside Congregation for Reform Judaism, founded in 1955, in Highland Park, Illinois, a Chicago North Shore community, is a Reform congregation. Over the years, it has gained a reputation as a place of welcome for all types of worshipping individuals and families including those who have come from Orthodox, Conservative and Reform backgrounds, as well as intermarried couples. Like most Reform congregations, we have evolved into “mainstream” Reform Judaism. The Board of Directors has always maintained a goal of approximately four hundred families to preserve the warm, close-knit atmosphere and welcoming style that allows all members to know the rabbi, cantor, educational director and staff, but as important, to be close to each other and to share the wide range of activities offered.
