Welcome to Lakeside Congregation for Reform Judaism, a mid-sized congregation (approximately 360 families) serving the entire community. For over 50 years we have been welcoming a diverse membership and finding ways to experience meaningful Judaism. We encourage you to check us out and see if we can do the same for you.
Our members come from an array of religious backgrounds both within the various Jewish traditions as well as many interfaith families. All are welcome in this house. We come together to pray, to learn, to experience the warmth of friendship and support.
Our professional staff includes Rabbi Isaac Serotta, a warm and caring leader ordained at the Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion in 1988. Cantor Michael Davis trained in Israel and envolved in the Reform Cantorate. Vanessa Ehrlich, our Director of Education, holds a masters degree in Jewish Education from Spertus College.
Prayer is conducted in a contemporary Reform style and includes family services, choral music, modern music, traditional styles, and more.
Our nationally accredited religious and Hebrew schools provide children with the background necessary to develop a love and enthusiasm for Judaism, helping to establish Jewish values to guide and enrich their paths through life. In addition, for pre-school children we have a year round program through our Children’s Center.
Education is an important part of our adult community life as well. Most Sunday mornings, 50 or more of our members can be found enjoying breakfast and listening to a engaging speaker or engaged in meaningful discussion. Evening classes are also held frequently throughout the year as well as Saturday morning Torah study, adult Hebrew and B’nai Mitzvot, and more. Additionally, adult programming includes a variety of social events as well as social action programs.
We strive to provide a warm, accepting, and nurturing environment for everyone who enters our doors. Come visit us anytime or call our office (847-432-7950), we welcome you and your inquires.
