Volunteer Opportunities

Social Action Committee

Chairs: Joyce Lyon and Bob Fields

The Social Action committee is a newly formed group. Our first project will be to engage with the Islamic center in Northbrook. We will work together with mosque members on a social justice project and are planning a congregation swap with the mosque.
We invite all members to join.

Please contact the committee chairs or Cantor Davis for more details.

SAVE THE DATE!

MITZVAH DAY 2013 IS ON MAY 5!

Volunteerism and Mitzvah is at the heart of Lakeside. If you are looking for a way to contribute that will bring satisfaction of knowing you have made a difference, consider how you can serve. Many Lakeside mitzvah programs and volunteer needs are listed below. If you have an idea for additional volunteer projects, please contact the Lakeside office.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are in regular need of volunteers for the Gift Shop, Social Action projects, and the Temple office. Please contact the Lakeside office at 847-432-7950 to help out. In many cases volunteer schedules can be flexible to meet your time constraints.

Special Needs At This Time:

We currently need volunteers to serve as Ushers for Bar/Bat Mitzvah's and the High Holy Day Services. Please contract the office to volunteer.

Community Mitzvah Opportunities
Ongoing: We currently have members involved in preparing / serving food many months of the year through the Beth Emet Soup Kitchen.

Mitzvah Day: Each year in May our congregation participates in a day of Mitzvah projects that require more than a few people to complete. In 2011, over 300 congregants participated in many ranging from working on efforts for the synagogue itself to outreach including the Heller Nature Center, Red Cross Blood Drive, Military Care Packages and feeding the homeless. Please contact the Lakeside office at 847-432-7950 to find out how you can do your part for Mitzvah Day 2012.

Mitzvah opportunities throughout the Year: Many congregants are involved in other volunteer efforts in the Chicago area. From time to time we will feature some of those opportunities at this location on our web site.
