The Women of Lakeside (WOL) is a collective voice of women within our Lakeside community. Formerly known as Sisterhood and made up of a diverse group spanning all ages and lifestyles, our goal is to provide a mutual support system for our members and our greater congregational family.
Just a few of the things that the Women of Lakeside does for Lakeside:
- For Women: Every year, the Women of Lakeside offers programs to enhance the lives of its members. Some are educational, some are spiritual, and some are just for fun.
- For Children: The Women of Lakeside funds scholarship to the camp at Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI) and provides gifts to B'nai Mitzvah students.
- For Families: The Women of Lakeside sponsors programs to foster warmth and familiarity among congregants such as an evening at Ravinia each summer. WOL also sponsors the Yom Kippur Break-the-Fast, their annual Women of Lakeside Shabbat, and the Women's Seder.
- Special Projects: Our dues and fundraising activities enable the Women of Lakeside to provide support for projects that are important to the entire Lakeside community. We have participated in walks for breast cancer awareness, supported programs for Hurricane Katrina victims, and fundraised for a bone-marrow drive.
