Your child’s B’nai Mitzvah is a landmark lifecycle event, and it is our primary goal to provide a meaningful and joyous experience within the tenets and traditions of Reform Judaism. We know that preparing for a B'nai Mitzvah takes dedication and hard work, for both parents and students. We hope the information and resources included on this page are helpful to you and your family as you navigate the entire B’nai Mitzvah process. As always, please contact us with any and all questions at (847) 432-7950.
- Prepare and gather what you need with the B'nai Mitzvah timeline.
- Review a list of community organizations to spark ideas for your mitzvah project.
- Contact our Associate Executive Director to make sure you are up to date with your account and B’nai Mitzvah fees.
Our quarterly newsletter, The Kolenu, comes out in the Spring (March, April, May), Summer (June, July, August), Fall (September, October, November), and Winter (December, January, February). In each issue, we list a short bio and photo for each B’nai Mitzvah student. We will need you to submit this information to the Associate Executive Director one month before the publication in which your child’s B’nai Mitzvah occurs (i.e., submitting bio and photo on May 1 for the Summer Issue). Click here to download the B'nai Mitzvah Photo & Bio Request Form and then e-mail it to the Lakeside Office.
Many parents, extended families, or close friends choose to honor this special occasion with a donation to a Lakeside fund or the purchase of customized remembrance that will be placed in our lobby for “permanent” viewing. We offer customizable leaves and stones on our Tree of Life in the lobby as well as the Tree of Eternal Life in the sanctuary. Contact the Lakeside Office for details on available fund choices or to work out specifics relating to an honorary leaf or stone.
