Lakeside shows its commitment to and love for Israel in many ways:
-
Most importantly, we organize regul
ar trips to visit the State of Israel. Our next trip is planned for December 2018 and is perfect for families and adults of all ages. It is a perfect time to become B’nai Mitzvah at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. A trip to Israel is a stimulating, life-changing encounter and we would love to have you with us. Get in touch with Vanessa M. Ehrlich to sign up or for more information, and to look at our planned itinerary.
- We also participate in the Jewish United Fund's SKIP program (Send a Kid to Israel Partnership) for students grades 3-9 (enrollment must be before grade 6) to help save money towards a trip in Israel. Lakeside and Federation join together with our families to create a matching fund savings account for use toward a trip to Israel.
-
Lakeside supports membership in ARZA (American Reform Zionist Association) and supports JUF programs and events including Israel Solidarity Day.
- We have had speakers over the years on Shabbat, at Adult Enrichment, in Religious School and at other times including Members of Knesset, the Israeli Consul to Chicago, Israeli Disabled Veterans, Magen David Adom, Israeli Scouts, Rabbis for Human Rights, The Parent’s Circle, Chicagoans serving in the IDF, Hands of Peace, the Israel Encounter Association and many more. We are open to multiple voices and points of view about Israeli politics while never compromising our love for the land and people of Israel.
